According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Ignacy [Jan] Paderewski was a Polish pianist, pupil of Leschetizky in Vienna, and composer of operas, piano concerto, symphony, piano solos (including Minuet in G), songs, etc. Also statesman: first Prime Minister of the newly created state of Poland, 1919 (he resigned after ten months). Died in New York.
