According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music Johann Pachelbel was a German organist and composer of keyboard music (including preludes on Lutheran chorales), church music etc.. He had the distinction of teaching Bach's elder brother, Johann Christoph, who went on to teach Bach himself in his boyhood.
