Walter Leigh  (1905-1942)

According to The Oxford Companion to Music, Walter Leigh was an English composer killed in action in Libya aged thirty-six. he studied at Cambridge under Paul Hindemith in Berlin. He wrote piano music, songs, jazz music, a sonatina for viol and piano (International Musical Festival, Vienna, 1932), comic opera and other things.
According to programme notes from the programme of a recital by Simon Feather (recorder) and Andy Spiceley (piano) on 23rd March 2001 in St Michael's Church, Warfield, England, he wrote just two pieces for the recorder, a very short Air and a Sonatina.
