According to the Internet source given below as well as other sources, James Bodewalt Lampe was a Danish-born, American composer of popular music. He was born in Ribe, Denmark from which he later concocted his pseudonym of Ribé Danmark. He was a child prodigy violinist also playing piano, trombone and several other instruments. He studied at an academy and worked as a composer, arranger and conductor. He wrote many orchestral arrangements of rags for all kinds of instrumental ensembles and finished his career as musical supervisor of the Trianon Ballroom, Chicago and as director of the Dell Lampe Dance Orchestra. He is perhaps best known today for his late cake-walk and future jazz number Creole Belles.
