According to the Internet source given below, Jiri Laburda was born in Sobeslav. Between 1952 and 1955 he studied at the Pedagogical Faculty of Prague s Charles University, specialising in musical education and philology and later at the Prague Teacher Training College (1957 -1961). He was much influenced by the Czech composers Karel Haba and Zdenek Hula. His works include a ballet, orchestral and symphonic compositions, cantatas, choral music, chamber music and songs.
