Johann Kuhnau  (1660-1722)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Johann Kuhnau was a German composer and organist, Johann Sebastian Bach's immediate predecessor in Leipzig. Wrote harpsichord works including so-called "Biblical Sonatas", which are early examples of illustrative music; also motets and other church music.
