According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, John Hilton was an English organist (of St Margaret's College, Cambridge) and composer of church music, "Ayres or Fa-Las" (in this case work of a ballet type) etc. Was also compiler and composer of "Catch as Catch Can" - a collection of rounds, catches, and canons, etc. He was possibly a son of John Hilton who died in 1608.
