According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Guillaume Dufay was a Franco-Flemish composer, also singer - in Papal choir in Rome, 1428-37; also canon of the Church. in 1440s, in service to the court in Burgundy. noted teacher, e.g. of Ockeghem. Works include Masses (one on "L'homm armé"), other church music (some with accompanying instruments), and chansons.
