According to the Internet source given below, Euday Louis Bowman was an American pianist and composer of rags and blues. He was born in Texas and in his early years worked as a pianist in the red-light districts in large towns and cities like many of his contemporaries. In this time he reportedly lost a leg whilst trying to board a train. He composed his most famous piece, 12th Street Rag whilst in Kansas City in honour of that street. This rag was a hit and went on to become an evergreen being recorded by such notables as Pee Wee Hunt, the Firehouse Five Plus Two and Liberace. He followed up his greatest hit with further rags celebrating the 8th, 10th and 11th streets the latter also enjoying some moderate success.
