According to The Oxford Companion to Music, Henk [Hendrik Herman] Badings was born in Java. He began his life as an engineer, but having, as a boy, studied music with Pijper, continued to work at it, and in his thirtieth year abandoned his first professiion to join the teaching staff of Rotterdam school of music. He has composed orchestral, choral, and chamber works, as also music for pianoforte, for organ, and for violin Though far from being a "modernist", he has worked very much with electronic means.
