According to the Internet source given below and other sources, Felix Arndt was an American pianist and composer of popular music. Born in New York with an aristocratic background, his mother was Countess Fevrier and said to be related to Napoleon III. He wrote for a number of Vaudeville troupers including Bayes & Norworth as well as Gus Edwards. Within three years he made a staggering 3000 piano roll recordings for Duo-Art, QRS and others.
His greatest hit was undoubtedly Nola which he dedicated to his wife Nola Locke, herself a composer, singer, and teacher who travelled as soloist with the St. Louis Symphony. The orchestra leader Vincent Lopez made it his theme tune when he had his own radio show in the 1930s. It was also recorded by Les Paul in a multi-tracked arrangement featuring electric guitars which became a "top ten" hit in 1950.
Felix Arndt died tragically young, just 29-years old during the 1918 New York influenza epidemic.
