Personal remarks:
Purchased in a Kingston-on-Thames second-hand book-shop in February 2004 for a measly £2, this must be one of the best purchases I ever made. Tatty, yellow and well used by many hands, just hanging on to its spine, it contains a treasure of some 230 songs from the English speaking world which were obviously very popular and would have been the songs my parents sang in the late 1920's and 1930's.
It contains numerous favourites, complete and for me new lyrics, and most valuable of all, piano accompaniments for every song. This songbook is superbly laid out, an example to modern publishers. This is the source for:
  1. Come Landlord Fill the Flowing Bowl
  2. The Drummer and the Cook
  3. Haul Away Joe
  4. O Willie Brewed a Peck o' Maut
  5. The Sailor Likes His Bottle Oh
  6. There is a Tavern in the Town
