p_collinss.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Shirley Elizabeth Collins MBE is an English folk singer and a significant contributor to the English Folk Revival of the 1960s and 1970s.
Involving herself in the early folk revival she recorded her first album Folk Song Today in 1955. In a wide ranging career she and Allan Lomax, an American folk collector, made a folk song collecting trip in the Southern U.S. states in 1959. Collins recorded more than 20 albums with groups such as The Albion Country Band, the Young Tradition amongst others,
A film about her life, The Ballad of Shirley Collins, was released in October 2017.
