George Chisholm (1915-1997)

p_chisholmg.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, George Chisholm OBE was a Scottish jazz trombonist and vocalist born in Glasgow.
He played in the Glasgow Playhouse Orchestra in the late 1930sbbefore moving to London. He played in the Bert Ambrose and Teddy Joyce. dance bands and also recorded with Coleman Hawkins, Thomas Waller and Benny Carter when they visited UK
He served with the Royal Air Force and joining the Squadronaires), the RAF Dance Orchestra. After the war he was a member of the BBC Showband, The Goons and The Black and White Minstrel Show.
Later he had his own band the Gentlemen of Jazz also playing with and Keith Smith's Hefty Jazz and others.

Personal remarks:
I particularly remember him on The Goon Show, then a member of Wally Stott's orchestra, as Chisholm MacChisholm the Steaming Celt'
